For the last three months Adur Model Car Club has been busy refurbishing our off road track. Being an off road track it takes a pounding over the season and our priority was getting the track surface flat, and more importantly consistent. A team of a dozen or so regulars have given up many weekends to achieve the following:-
Put down over 100 tonnes of clay, and roll it flat, most sections have had 5 inches of clay compressed onto the track.
Reshape existing three jumps, and cover them with astro turf. Protect one section where clay not used with astro turf.
Replace pit lane with new raised lane, with pit bar for refuelling.
Replace all electrics to improve timing loop and PA system.
The track layout remains largely the same, we have plans for a new corner and a reduced track for the ever growing short course truck class. The first two rounds of our summer series have seen our numbers swell, we currently run, Buggy, Truggy, Monster Truck, and short-course trucks. Each class has at least 6 entries on race days. We are one of the largest model car clubs on the south coast and pride ourselves on our reputation for being one of the friendliest clubs around. We have welcomed 10 new members this season and are always happy to welcome more new drivers.
