These are seen as the original off roaders! Big tyres, high ground clearance,
4WD and usually a bigger engine than a buggy. Whilst this means great fun for
bashing (Playing around on rough ground, down the woods or at the park doing big jumps),
it does mean they are not that well suited to racing. They’re heavier and have a higher
centre of gravity meaning they are a little unstable round the bends and that extra weight
means the nitro engine needs more fuel, so fuel economy suffers. That’s not to say they
can’t be raced, on the contrary and when raced as they are a little more relaxed then
often more fun and a great introduction. Not many places race monster trucks these days
as many use either buggies or truggies that are undoubtedly more competitive, but Adur will
definitely still run them if people come along! Popular choices currently are the HPI Savage range,
